2017-2019
These works are based on my experiences at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada as a visiting artist-researcher. Please see 'Mania' and Psychiatric Rooms as other completed explorations from this residency. There is also an auto-ethnographic follow up to my Alberta #2 (Replica) film titled Alberta #3, based on these and many more experiences. Further, writing is complete on a theatre play titled Stormshelter (previously know as Alberta #4) that had its world premiered at the Rendezvous with Madness Festival in Toronto, October 2018. Currently, I have begun a novel titled Alberta #5 (Anamnesis) that is looking at genetically passed down altered states and their relation to time—deep histories beyond specific people, objects, and events that is a collective space in all of our bodies and psyches. Also in development are three Virtual Reality spaces based on these rooms (see near the bottom of the link for documentation of these spaces).
This work has received generous support from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Edmonton Arts Council, MacEwan University, and the University of Alberta.
